Project 1: Establish a Carers Support Network.
- Carers NZ assisted in setting up this network
- Phone contact for carers has become vital within this region to minimize feelings of isolation
- August 2004 Carers Northern Rodney established.
- Roll on needs set out in next project outline.
Project 2: Establish an Adult Day Stay Centre.
- Needs of carers showed that a day stay centre where their loved ones can go that is safe and secure would give them a break. In doing so quality of care is maintained.
- Venue sought and Business Plan compiled
- Funds for set up and equipment sourced. Secured 23rd June 2005.
- Policies and Procedures drawn up in conjunction with MOH and CYFS.
- OSH requirements established and met
- Vehicle to assist in transport purchased by the trust.
- Adult Day Stay incorporated with the CTC Community Trust ? 20th April 2005.
- Finalization of details and opening date set.
- Follow up on ACC ?step ahead? programme undertaken to ascertain viability of operating the programme from the day stay centre.
Project 3: Meals Service
? CSN Northern Rodney established that this service does not exist and is a high need.
? Research achieved to verify need.
? Business plan under development
? OSH Requirements currently under investigation
? Fundraising action plan set out
Project 4: Carers Retreat
- Initial project outline draft document done
- Research achieved
- Viability looked at
- Established venue, cost projection under development

Project 5: Health Information and Advocacy
- Project outline of existing model received and reviewed
- Assess needs in our region- research. WDHB strategic plan consultation minutes indicate positive need for a service such as this.
- Develop project outline adapted to research needs. Initial research shows that in rural districts an over load of pamphlets is not what people want.
- Research into ?stand alone info and advocacy centre? or a ?network info and advocacy service? is required.

Project 6: Research Education
- New initiatives hard to be funded with out solid research
- WDHB and Flexiplus initiate a ?Consumer Research Programme?
- Trustees undertaken 1 year training and research within this programme.
- Effective knowledge base will be advantageous to assisting other community groups in the Coast to Coast Community Trust?s region.
Project 7: Health Style Symposium - Supporting WDHB and Coast to Coast PHO.
? The Trust has undertaken to be responsible for establishing community support.
? Focus group of like minded individuals prepared
? Broad section of community representation sought and confirmed
? Date and Venue set.
? Aim: to achieve a plan to encourage Coast to Coast residents to attend this symposium.
