Ticket to Heaven

Ticket to Heaven

Recently I went to listen to a well-known Christian speaker, Joyce Meyer. Around 7000 other people also packed the event centre where she was speaking. I wasn't that excited about going because even though I had heard of her I had never really heard her speak or knew her other than just by her name. My friend had bought me the ticket and I thought it sounded interesting enough. It also gave me an excuse for a night out, which, as a mum to a two year old, is fairly rare. Once I entered the stadium though and looked around at the thousands of other people, I started to feel pretty excited: this was the biggest Christian event I'd been to and it was impressive being surrounded by that many people. Then the band came out and 7000 or so people worshipped God; now that was something! I thought, wow, this must be a tiny version of what it will feel like in heaven when everyone is praising God. It was beautiful and I was so glad I went.

Sometimes we can go along to church events or church and know of God, know God's name, but not really know Him personally. When people talk about God with excitement and joy we can think it sounds interesting, but maybe not feel that excitement ourselves. People that know God personally have a reason to be excited. They know what He has promised them, and it's bigger and better than anything we've ever been to: an eternal life with God in heaven. Jesus bought us a ticket when he died for us on the cross, and personally I'm excited about it!

?I saw a huge crowd, too huge to count. Everyone was there- all nations and tribes, all races and languages. And they were standing, dressed in white robes and waving palm branches, standing before the Throne and the Lamb and heartily singing...?  Revelation 7:9-10
